Job Description

The Executive Associate is responsible for providing senior administrative management services to the Senior Operating Officer, Area 10, NLRHC, their portfolio and Alberta Health Services and reports directly to the Senior Operating Officer. The Executive Associate manages and coordinates issues and leads administrative activities affecting the portfolio and organization, allowing senior executive to focus on strategic leadership and organizational matters. This position will build consistency and continuity within a portfolio, between portfolios and organizationally, while providing background and strategic advice to executive on issues related to administrative management, policies and organizational matters.

Responsibilities:

  • The Executive Associate will provide services in office management, issues management, strategic planning, portfolio support, committee support, project management, stakeholder and community liaison and executive support services to build the strength and effectiveness of the executive portfolio.
  • This position will build consistency and continuity within a portfolio, between portfolios and organizationally, while providing background and strategic advice to executive on issues related to administrative management, policies and organizational matters.
  • The Executive Associate position is responsible for the functional oversight of the Business Supports Portfolio.
  • The position will act as liaison between clinical and non-clinical support services, while building and sustaining relationships with non-clinical supports.
  • The position is also responsible for oversight of the major capital equipment submission process, OBP initiative tracking, and maintains financial accountability of the Exec Assoc Budget string.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of a university degree in health services administration, business administration or related area. A graduate degree would be preferred. Equivalencies of education and experience will be considered.
  • Ability to gain extensive knowledge of Alberta health Services strategic direction, operating requirements, as well as the policies and procedures.
  • Several years of related experience.
  • Proven ability to work within a team as a contributing member.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience working independently within a large organization with a variety of staffing groups.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with other team members from other areas of expertise, and with the most senior management within the organization.
  • Additional training or experience in project management and change management would be an asset.
  • Some previous budget management experience would be an asset.

  • All professions must provide proof of licensure or registration with the approved Alberta regulatory college, prior to commencing duties with AHS where applicable: Regulated health professions under the Alberta Health Professions Act and Health Disciplines Act will be required to provide an original copy of a valid practice permit before commencing their duties with AHS. Other professions governed by government acts, college or regulatory body requirements may be required to provide additional documentation. 

Additional Information:

In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
