Responsibilities:

  • As a member of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide crisis intervention, assessment, and diagnostic and treatment services to Young Adults, Youth, Children and Families with Mental Health issues and concerns.
  • Utilizing a variety of treatment modalities, you will undertake individual and group psychotherapy.
  • Your responsibilities will also include working in partnership with and providing consultation to community agencies and Physicians in the continuum of Mental Health care.

Requirements:

  • Master’s Psychology or Bachelor Social Work or BSc. Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing (RPN) or Master’s Occupational Therapy is required.
  • Master's Psychology, Master’s Social Work, Master’s Nursing, Master’s Occupational Therapy or Degree in Psychiatric Nursing is desired.
  • One year direct work with individuals experiencing mental illness and metal disorders with a focus in providing services to children is required.
  • Experience in providing crisis intervention services are required.
  • Three years’ experience with individuals experiencing mental illness and mental disorders is desired.
  • Work experience in rural Mental Health is desired.
  • Must be registered with an Alberta professional association (CARNA or CRPNA, ACSSW, CAP, or ACOT). If registered with CARNA/APRNA, BCLS-HCP is required (eligibility for registration may be considered).
  • A key expectation of the successful Candidate is to build rapport and strong professional relationship s with Mental Health professionals.
  • Successful candidate should also have Knowledge and skills in computer and software programs and demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Successful candidate must be, self-motivated, capable of working independently as well as be part of a multidisciplinary consultation team.
  • Candidate must be flexible regarding working schedules
  • A valid, current, Alberta class 5 Driver’s license and use of personal vehicle are required.
  • The successful candidate must provide proof of or eligibility for registration with their respective professional association.
  • Non-violent crisis intervention certification
  • ASIST Training
  • DSM-IV training (Knowledge of the DSM5 would be an asset.
  • Frequent physical demands for the position include: sitting, walking, and driving as required.

  • All employees who work in a patient care location are required to submit a completed Communicable Disease Assessment form.
  • All professions must provide proof of licensure or registration with the approved Alberta regulatory college, prior to commencing duties with AHS where applicable: Regulated health professions under the Alberta Health Professions Act and Health Disciplines Act will be required to provide an original copy of a valid practice permit before commencing their duties with AHS. Other professions governed by government acts, college or regulatory body requirements may be required to provide additional documentation. 

Additional Information:

In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480.00 This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all paid at the basic rate of pay.
