Public Works Department
This is a permanent, full time position working forty (40) hours per week.
(More than one position will be filled)
Under general supervision, perform skilled journeyman level work in their respective trade. Work involves preventative and corrective maintenance, inspections, modifications, installation/dismantling of systems and projects within the trade.
Qualifications:
- Grade twelve (12) or a GED equivalent.
- Alberta or Inter-Provincial Journeyman Certification.
- Certificates appropriate to the trade is required, e.g., Fire Alarm and Control, Operator B.
- Three (3) years journeyman experience in areas specific to Municipal operations and the particular trade, e.g., operations of inner working/glycol systems, high voltage switchgear and processing controls and electrical systems, design and programming of process controls.
- Experience in municipal operations is a definite asset.
- Valid Alberta class five (5) driver’s license (clear driving record an asset).
- Valid First Aid Certificate (within first 6 months of employment).
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions, read blueprints, and interprets plans and specifications.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and productive work relationships.
- Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
- Must be medically and physically able to perform all of the duties of the Trade on an ongoing basis.
- Must be able to work in hazardous, unsanitary conditions and in all weather conditions.
- Salary $44.49 (Probationary Rate)
- $45.97 (Permanent Rates)
