Open Position/Description
 
Planning & Development Department
This is a permanent, full-time position working thirty-five (35) hours per week.
 
With independent action this position will make decisions on the issuance of development permit applications for single and semi-detached dwellings, manufactured homes and signs, as well as minor variance applications. Review and evaluate blueprints and plans. Preparation of reports for the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board. The position will also assist the public with the completion of development applications by providing technical, advisory and review services.
 
Qualifications:
 

• Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning, Surveying, Landscaping, Drafting or similar Technology.
• One (1) year of experience related to plan drawing and/or examination is required. An alternate combination of education and work experience may be considered.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD is required.
• Familiarity with Geographic Information System (GIS) software is an asset.
• Effective interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills are required.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, and tactfully handle complex and difficult planning and development enquires.
• Proven ability to read and interpret engineering plans, drawings, and specifications.
• Valid Class five (5) Driver’s license and a personal vehicle for business use are required.
• Must be willing work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Must be medically and physically able to perform all the duties of the job on an ongoing basis.
• Salary $31.91 (Probationary rate)
• $34.96 – $37.45 (Permanent rates)
