Job Description


  • Reporting to the Manager, Product Support and Service Sales, this position supports GET activities and services handled by SMS within the assigned territory of the Fort McMurray area.
  • The position performs the selling functions regarding the sale of GET (Ground Engaging Tools) and Programs to each customer assigned. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Following the Company sales process, (IMPACT Sales) with a strong focus on attaining specific targets.
  • Develops annual business plan conjunction with Supervisor.
  • Completes plan activities in a professional manner within required timelines and approval levels.
  • Provides weekly status updates on sales plans and actions.
  • Makes required entries in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) System
  • Gathering business intelligence by continuously collecting information about customers and potential customers:
  • Buying habits and reasons for their choices
  • Machine models, serial numbers and age, attachments their make and serial numbers, etc.
  • Other information that could serve as a potential conversion to the Company as a preferred supplier or service provider
  • Competitor information
  • Machine profiles for respective customers on an ongoing basis with appropriate entries into CRM
  • Collecting machine sales leads and communicating to the Sales Department
  • Provides coverage of the specified customers in the assigned territory of the Fort McMurray and any additional territory or customer(s) assigned based on opportunity for business growth
  • Performs the selling functions regarding the sale of GET Products and Service Programs to each customer assigned
  • Performs GET inspections and wear analysis for customers assigned
  • Performs/coordinates market and opinion surveys Sales Call reports
  • Failure/success reports for manufacturers and SMS
  • Customer GET population lists
  • Maintain Customer’s GET Inventory levels which includes offloading and staging
  • Test and Monitor new products designed for the Oilsands
  • Increase sales of products to assigned accounts
  • Establishing and maintaining long-term professional relationships with all contacts including customers, suppliers and branch personnel.
  • Coordinates weekly activities with Product & Service Sales Manager and respective Branch Parts and Service Managers.
  • Actively participates in Branch meetings
  • Assists other Company functions (engineering, manufacturing, quality control) to identify user and / or design problems
  • Takes an active role in customer JoiFul meetings and communicating minutes from these meetings to other management within the Company to improve overall customer satisfaction
  • Sells GET products to the Oilsands Mines and Mining Contractors
  • Solves technical challenges and generates customer solutions for GET
  • Attend meetings and scheduled monthly meetings with manufacturers/company representatives
  • Conducting regular communication with branch Managers and customers.
  • Ensures timely responses to voicemail and/or email
  • Conducts follow up calls on new machine deliveries following the delivery of the machine
  • Visits each customer who has purchased a machine within the territory within four weeks of the delivery
  • Sells company products, services and support programs ensuring business retention, opening new accounts while preserving the best profitability for the company
  • Promotes services offered by the Service Department in coordination with the respective Service Manager (scheduling, etc.)
  • Promotes parts and parts programs offered by the Parts Department in coordination with the respective Parts Manager to equipment owners, contractors and fleet operators
  • Reports regularly and make recommendations as to how to improve product in order to see continued product improvements
  • Develops and runs training courses on products to maintain and improve sales performance
  • Solves technical problems and generates customer solutions as a value added supplier
  • Attends and participates in local related associations ie. CIM, road builders, as approved by their manager
  • Documentation and Record Keeping.
  • Call Reports (CRM Notes) regarding customer contacts, potential deals, submitted quotes, follow ups and lost business with comments.\
  • Establishes and maintains strong, professional relationships with customers and manufacturers.
  • Assist management with on-site inventory and works with the Parts Manager to ensure timely availability of products being offered and sold.
  • Actively participates in locally selected tradeshows, training, community events, safety meeting and exhibits as determined by management.

Maintains all records and paperwork including:

  1. Customer contacts
  2. Quotations
  3. Machine population lists
  4. Inventory List
  5. JoiFul meetings


  • A valid Class 5 Drivers License
  • The candidate requires a sound understanding of the principles and concepts associated with the subject area and an understanding of the relation of these to the responsibilities of the position.
  • The ability to operate in a diverse environment with a significant focus on client and customer relations is essential to success in this role
  • A strong sales / engineering orientation is required with preference given to 3-5 years experience within the mining / industrial industry. Position requires experience in the heavy equipment business and being familiar with GET on the large mining equipment
  • Must be ambitious and aggressive, proactively acquiring cutting edge technology and “best practice” pertaining to the Company’s products and services; enhancing expertise, performance, and bottom line productivity
  • Must be computer literate and able to demonstrate proficiency in software applications as required in the performance of job responsibilities
  • Proficient communication skills in dealing with customers and manufacturers are a must
