Planning and Development Department
This is a permanent, full-time position working thirty-five (35) hours per week.
Reporting to the Manager of Current Planning & Development, you will have a variety of challenging responsibilities. You will:
- Supervise development approval process as outlined in the provisions of the Land Use Bylaw and the Municipal Government Act.
- Supervise development of amendments to the Land Use Bylaw.
- Supervise implementation of Statutory Plans.
- Negotiate with builders and land developers as part of the land development regulatory process.
- Participate in the development of the Branch’s budget, strategic plan and work plan.
- Participate in the subdivision and Development Appeal Board process from time to time.
- Manage the resources (i.e., human resources, financial)
- Supervise the daily operations of the Planners and Development Officers within the Current Planning and Development Branch.
- Participate in the development of operational budget.
- Coach and mentor the Branch Planners and Development Officers to increase staff skill and knowledge, and to build service potential.
- Participate in the development and implementation of public notification processes.
- Develop, maintain and monitor public consultation process relative to Development and Permitting issues.
- Consult with and inform the public, community groups, developers and other stakeholders.
- You will possess an Undergraduate degree in related field or other related post secondary education and directly related experience along with five (5) years of related experience. Preferred graduate degree in Urban and Regional Planning. Membership of Canadian Institute of Planners is preferred. You have above average analytical, leadership, communication, interpersonal and supervisory skills. An Alberta Class five (5) Driver’s License is required. You may be required to attend up to four (4) scheduled evening meetings per month plus other meetings if required
- Salary $84,846 – $108,268
Rates have been adjusted to reflect market conditions
