LABORATORY AIDE
ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY

Keyano College requires a Laboratory Aide for the Environmental Technology Department. This full-time, permanent position will commence on August 25, 2008.
The Environmental Technology program is a two-year diploma program with a particular focus on the oil sands, conventional oil and gas, coal, and forestry industries in the Boreal Forest region of Western Canada. It prepares students for environmental technology positions with the resource industry and regulatory organizations.
Reporting to the Laboratory Technician, and work closely with the instructors in the Environmental Technology program, the Laboratory Aide will be responsible for the set-up and take-down of Environmental Science, Geology, Geotechnical, Chemistry and Biology labs, for the general upkeep of laboratory supplies and other related duties on an "as required basis". As well, the Laboratory Aide will aid and monitor experimental set-ups, maintain and use lab and field equipment (motors, slab saw, ice auger, etc.), and prepare and transport equipment for field trips. The ability to work efficiently with others in a team environment is necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS: Two-year Diploma in Environmental Technology is preferred; although one or more years of post-secondary course work in Environmental Technology will be considered. Courses in Ecology, Forestry, and Chemistry, and previous laboratory experience are an asset. Familiarity with lab/field safety and loss management, and a valid vehicle operator's license (Class 4 or 5) are desirable.
SALARY: $48,961 per annum plus an attractive benefits package
