Position Type/ Hours:

This is a permanent full-time position working forty (40) hours per week.
|
|
Position Description:
|
Under general supervision, perform skilled journeyman level work in their respective trade. Work involves preventative and corrective maintenance, inspections, modifications, installation/dismantling of systems and projects within the trade, and troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairs of municipal equipment.
|
|
Qualifications:
|
· Grade twelve (12) or a GED equivalent.
· Alberta or Inter-Provincial Journeyman Certification in applicable trade.
· Certificates appropriate to the trades are required, e.g., Fire Alarm and Control, Operator B, engine repairs, transmission repairs, hydraulic & electrical courses, etc
· Three (3) years journeyman experience in areas specific to Municipal operations and the particular trade, e.g., operations of inner working/glycol systems, high voltage switchgear and processing controls and electrical systems, design and programming of process controls.
· Experience in municipal operations is a definite asset.
· Dual tickets will be considered an asset.
· Valid Alberta class five (5) drivers’ license (clear driving record an asset).
· Valid Alberta class three (3) drivers’ license required for Mobile Equipment Mechanics or must be able to obtain within first six (6) months.
· Valid First Aid Certificate (within first six (6) months of employment).
· Basic computer skills are required.
· Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions, read blueprints, and interprets plans and specifications.
· Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and productive work relationships.
· Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
· Must be medically and physically able to perform all of the duties of the Trade on an ongoing basis.
· Must be able to work in hazardous, unsanitary conditions and in all weather conditions.

$49.05 (Probationary Rate)
$50.68 (Permanent Rate)
