This is a permanent, full-time position working forty (40) hours per week.
|

Position Description:
|
Working on broad assignments, perform engineering duties to include: system and functional planning pre-design; tender and construction contract administration; undertake research for projects and studies; traffic, transportation and transit functions; review and make recommendations on plans, project designs and proposals by consultants and developers; prepare reports.
|
|
Qualifications:
|
· Civil/Municipal Engineering Degree from a recognized University is required. Member of, or eligible for, membership in the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGGA).
· Candidates that have the recognized Degree but who do not have the professional designation will be considered on a graduated wage scale.
· Three (3) to five (5) years Civil/Municipal Engineering experience preferably in a municipal setting to include transportation/traffic, design, construction, and project management are the minimum requirements. Experience in contract administration is a definite asset.
· Proficiency with computer applications is required.
· Above average analytical, leadership, interpersonal, planning, problem solving and communication skills, are required.
· Proven ability to achieve self-set goals and targets with independent initiative together with the motivation and commitment to be successful in this position.
· Must possess a valid class five (5) Alberta driver's license (clear driving record an asset) and personal vehicle for use at work is mandatory.
· Must be medically and physically fit to perform the duties of the position in all weather conditions.
· Will be required to undertake standby service on a rotating basis as assigned and must reside within the urban limits of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. (The latter applies to only those employees hired after October 1, 1986.)

$44.82 (2010 Probationary Rate)
$49.21 – $52.82 (2010 Permanent Rates)
