Position Description:
You will work with our leaders in achieving the Municipality’s strategic and business plans. You will have a breadth of responsibilities, interesting work, and an opportunity to influence. 
 
If this description fits you, we invite you to consider our opportunity for a Supervisor, Social Economic – External Relations. A variety of opportunities exist, including but not limited to:
 
Qualifications:
·          Coordinates the work of employees in the section in identifying issues and trends that can have a major impact on the RMWB.
·          Leads the Section in identifying local, national or international issues likely to impact the RMWB through research using various sources.
·          Reviews government or interdepartmental reports for emerging trends and issues.
·          Provides expert advices to section employees on research methodologies and techniques.
·          Reviews and assesses impact of Federal, Provincial, Municipal standards and regulations on policies.
·          Ensures that policies address issues and trends raised through research and analysis.
·          Reviews policies to ensure that they are integrated into the vision and intent of the Municipal Development Plan.
·          Maintains an open dialogue with the municipality stakeholders.
·          Liaises with government agencies, neighboring municipalities, local organization and social groups on social, economic and environmental issues.
·          Provides manager with up-to-date information on progress and status.
·          Provides coaching and development opportunities to section employees.
·          Sets performance goals and expectations for each employee of the section.
·          Addresses disciplinary issues by following appropriate policy.
·          Researches and provides impact assessment of issues on the RMWB and on stakeholders.
·          Conducts research using appropriate research method in social, economic and environmental issues.
·          Uses tracking system (quantitative and qualitative) to monitor trends and issues.
·          Consults with stakeholders (First Nations and Métis groups, social groups, government, other municipalities) to identify issues and trends.
·          Performs risk assessment of issues and trends on policies and on the RMWB.
·          Ensures that section adheres to set work programs and priorities.
·          Monitors results with section performance expectations.
 
You possess a university Bachelor degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Economics, Political Science or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Masters degree in Land Use Planning would be an asset. You will possess five (5) years of experience to include two (2) years of supervisory experience. 
 
Pay / Classification Level:
CL 10
 
 
 
Salary Range:
$93,543 (Starting Range) - $119,365 (2010 Rates)
