Instructor, Driver Training
Keyano College currently has an opening for a Driver Training Instructor in our Trades and Heavy Industrial Division. This is a full-time, permanent position commencing February 15, 2010 or when a suitable candidate is found.
The successful candidate will be required to prepare and deliver quality lessons and demonstrations to successfully transfer the skills and knowledge required to be a safe competent driver as directed in the curriculum guide. Participation in curriculum revisions and development to maintain industrial standards is required. You will oversee safety regulations in classrooms, shops, training areas and projects. The incumbent will also maintain necessary student documents and records, and perform other related instructional duties when required.
QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of 10 years relevant experience in the trucking industry involving operation of:
- Tandem axle trucks (Class 3)
- Front end loader
- Tractor trailers (Class 1)
- School bus (Class 2)
- Heavy equipment
Instructor Certification in Professional Drivers Improvement Course, Defensive Driving Course, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, and Air Brakes is required. The incumbent will be required to obtain a Driving Instructor’s License through Alberta Transportation and produce a clean driver’s abstract.
Previous experience in light vehicle driver training and/or advanced driver training would be a definite asset. General computer skills and strong communication (written and oral) skills required
