Open Position/Description
 
The Casman Group of Companies is a dynamic, growing operation providing industrial, commercial, and residential construction services, HVAC and mechanical services, and millwork products to the Fort McMurray market. Due to our growth, Casman Group of Companies and Casman Building Ltd. are looking for the following position.
 
Project Manager: Multi-family Residential & Commercial
 
Reporting to the Commercial Division General Manager of Casman Building Ltd., this position is responsible for planning, organizing, scheduling and directing the activities of a construction unit composed of skilled, unskilled, and multi-discipline personnel involved in multiple, simultaneous projects. Supervision is exercised over operations and/or administrative support personnel. Work is performed with considerable independence of action and latitude for decision making within program and policy guidelines under the direction of the general manager. Specific accountabilities will include the following:
 

  • Direct the production process, including acquisition, schedule development, proposal writing, creation of construction projects, and contract negotiations;
  • Liaise with clients by attending progress and bid clarification meetings, safety meetings, etc.
  • Liaise with Building Trades
  • Coordinate construction activities, including scheduling manpower and equipment requirements.
  • Supervise and train foremen, trade employees, administrative support, and key personnel.
  • Oversee the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution; evaluate performance and making recommendations for personnel actions; motivate employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
  • Develop and implement short and medium range operational plans, goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitor and evaluate program effectiveness; effect changes required for improvement.
  • Represent the organization at various community and/or business meetings; promote existing and new programs and/or policies.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate group policies and mandates of local, provincial, and federal agencies.
  • Assist in the development of annual operating budgets
  • Maintain fluency in construction safety and ISO quality assurance requirements
 
Qualifications & Skills
 
  • Completion of technical training in construction, construction management, or project management
  • More than four (4) years of progressive management experience with at least 2 years serving in a foreman capacity.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project management principles and practices
  • Solid planning, communication, organizational, and negotiation abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and coordinate the work of others
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Unquestioned personal and professional integrity
  • Confident, results-oriented, and able to make decisions
  • Computer literacy desirable, but not essential (ms project, ms office)
